| about the geocoin | for the celebreation of 10,000 found logs and 20 years of geocaching, ernies finally published his own personal geocoin. the celebration and publication of the coin happened on may 25, 2026 with a geocaching event called “10k 20y”. this coin was 10 years in the making (officially intended for the 10-years jubilee). in the meantime, it has undergone several changes to the design. the coin features four squares on the front side dedicated to heart and brain (what it takes for geocaching) as well as nature (a tree) and technology (integrated circuits). the back shows some basic geometric shapes like circles, triangles, and squares. it is kind of a resumee of what kind of coins ernies made during the last almost 20 years: stuff with geometric patterns (rather than cute animals, cute mascots, and other designs with faces). ironically, you can see a smiley face on this coin. there are 10 different editions (representing 10,000 found logs) and 20 made each (for the 20 years). so every coin of this series is an xxle (exxtra limited edition). the initial price of this coin was 20 swiss francs. for the first time, every edition has a name. these names are purely fictional. they are names that have never existed before anywhere in history (at least not on the one recoreded by google). don’t ask me how to pronounce those names—do as you like. |
